Bailey History
Built in 1902 by the Perrenoud family, the building now occupied by the Bailey Hotel originally served as the Perrenoud Creamery. In its history, the building has also housed a laundry facility, a telephone switchboard operation, a jewelry store, and a gift shop.
In 1927, owners Bill and Hattie Bailey expanded the building's second level into a full-service hotel, the Bailey Hotel. The Baileys operated the hotel until the mid-1950s.
Boarded up for the next 40 years, the building's second level remained untouched until 1996, when hometown boy
Paul Finney purchased the building. Finney immediately went to work on his vision of
restoring the Bailey Hotel to its former glory to add to the charm of a small Kansas town suspended in time.
Located on the corner of Bridge and Ninth Streets, you can't miss the Bailey Hotel. Just look for the famous spired onion dome.
